Cyclone Hockey Camps
2010 Camp Information

On-Ice Instruction
Each group of participants at the Cyclone Hockey School will receive over 3 hours of on-ice instruction daily. This will be broken down into practice and game time in the evening. Coaches will emphasize the fundamentals of skating (both power skating and overspeed skating), shooting, passing, individual skills and team skills. There will be daily scrimmages where all players will receive equal ice time regardless of their ability.

Off-Ice Training
Campers at the Cyclone Hockey School will participate in structured off-ice training sessions. Equipment such as the Power Skater, agility ladders, balance balls, wobble boards and various other items will be used to teach core stability exercises, all for the emphasis of improving on-ice ability. Games will also be played to emphasize the importance of team work. For more informaiton on off ice training please go to: http://www.poweringathletics.com/

Day students will be dropped off at approximately 7:30 each morning and will have a break after their PM off-ice and evening game. If the camper wishes to stay and eat dinner with the group, he or she can do so for $15 / day or $50 for the week (M – Th). This includes the evening meal and supervision. The evening game will conclude at its’ designated time and parents and other friends or family members are encouraged to attend. Lunch will be provided for day students Monday – Thursday. Supervision is provided from drop-off to pick-up.

Resident campers will check in on Sunday afternoon between 4:00 – 5:30 and will have Sunday dinner at the dormitory. Resident campers will be under 24 hour supervision of adult camp counselors and will depart after the FINAL GAME on Friday. Accommodations will be at the air conditioned residence halls at Iowa State University. There will be 2 campers / room with requests for roommates as an option. Linen service will be provided. Breakfast and dinner will be on campus at one of the dining centers. Lunch will be provided at the Ames / ISU Ice Arena.

Awards and Evaluations
Each student will receive an On-Ice report card of their performance throughout the week. We feel it is important for students to be aware of the areas they need to improve upon before the start of the next season. Report cards will include comments as well as suggestions to help each camper excel in specific areas of the game. Awards will also be distributed after the final game for those who have demonstrated excellent leadership and work ethic throughout the week.
